Sensory Cubbie

The ‘Sensory Cubbie’ in Ballyfermot Public Library is for people with sensory processing disorders. The ‘cubbie’ offers a sensory management system for both children and adults.
Programmes last 5 to 15 minutes and consist of colours, images and music. People are welcome to set up their own plan and have a login for it. But due to the demand, some protocols for its use needed to be put in place.
Protocols for Using the ‘Cubbie’
- Intended users of the ‘Cubbie’ need to go to the desk to be signed, (this so the library staff are aware that it is in use).
- Only one user of the ‘Cubbie’ is allowed at a time, (though we do understand if someone needs a support person and will accommodate, but space is limited and there is only one seat available.).
- Users of the ‘Cubbie’ need to be mindful of other people using the library.
- Staff reserve the right to enter the ‘Cubbie’ at any time.
Please note
- For times of high demand, a booking system will be established.
- The volume in the ‘Cubbie’ is currently capped, (as there were some issues with it being very loud for other users of the library.)
- Some slings and a chair that’s normally in the space are available on request at the desk.
