Erasmus+ Information & Applications

The Erasmus Plus Programme offers FET Ballyfermot Road students the opportunity to apply to work abroad (usually for a two to three week period). Placements will be arranged with employers in the host country with support from the college. Erasmus+ is an opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture, make the most of travel opportunities, strengthen your language abilities, boost your Europass profile and CV, and develop a wealth of transferable skills.

Students will have the opportunity to complete placements in their vocational area in countries such as Finland, Germany, Holland, Malta and Spain. Placements normally take place during the academic year September-June. If your application is successful, you will qualify for a grant towards the cost of the mobility programme including travel, accommodation and living expenses. In addition, you will receive language and cultural preparation prior to departure.

How is your Erasmus+ exchange funded?

Under the Erasmus+ programme, students from the college have the opportunity to spend two to three weeks on work placement with an European employer linked to a European partner organisation as part of their course.

Erasmus students receive a maintenance grant, which is provided by the European Commission. The aim of the grant is to assist students with travel and the cost of living abroad.  The amount varies from year to year depending on how many students are participating in the programme. The grant is not means-tested and does not affect students’ entitlements to other grants, such as SUSI, Back to Education, etc. The grant amount can vary depending on the host country and the duration of mobility.

Out of College Educational Activities Policy

Erasmus+ mobilities, like all other Out-of-College Educational Activities (OCAs), are governed by the Out-of-College Educational Activities Policy. This policy sets out the eligibility criteria, required documents, responsibilities, and health-and-safety requirements that both students and staff must satisfy to take part in Erasmus+.

Prospective Erasmus+ applicants and participants should review the policy via the link below:

Erasmus+ Mobility Feedback

Feedback

  1. On completion of an Erasmus+ mobility, students will be emailed a survey from the European Commission to complete online. This survey will help the EU and the college in the development of the Erasmus+ Programme. It is compulsory to complete this survey.
  2. Additionally, students are required to complete feedback post-mobility to the college to further the dissemination of the knowledge and skills acquired while on mobility.

All students are encouraged at pre-application, pre-selection and pre-mobility to use the feedback form to forward questions on the colleges’ Erasmus+ programme. Payment of your final grant instalment will only be organised when students complete the Erasmus+ EU online survey, and complete feedback to the college.

Categories of Student Feedback

  1. Questions Prior to Submitting an Application
  2. Erasmus+ Applicant (Application Already Submitted)
  3. Pre-Mobility Students (Students who have attained a place on a mobility)
  4. Post-Mobility Students (All post-mobility students must complete this form)

The purpose of this feedback form is to help the college ascertain students’ thoughts and questions at pre-application, pre-selection, pre-mobility and more importantly gather feedback from students on the knowledge and skills acquired, which will assist in post-mobility dissemination to the college community.
